Ningbo kicked off a campaign to improve its local tourism market on Tuesday. Local tourism authorities plan to start an inspection over market order in the next five months. The move aims to ban travel agencies from organizing non-qualified management, selling unreasonably cheap travel packages, practices of forced shopping and other illegal activities.
The inspection campaign will be carried out in two stages. The first stage lasts from January 8 to the Spring Festival and the second stage lasts from March 1 to May 7. During the campaign, tourism watchdogs will ban tourism agencies without qualification or tour guides without certificates. They will also ban tourist agencies who lure tourists with unreasonably low prices, or getting illegitimate gains such as rebates by arranging shopping or providing tourism services that requires additional payment, or luring tourists to pay for "worshipping the gods or drawing lots". Tourism watchdogs will ban companies illegally renting tour vehicles or travel agencies' renting illegal vehicles, the travel agencies who organized business activities beyond the authorization, those tour guides organizing illegal tours and those travel agencies who practices illegal online business.
