The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the European Union Commission recently announced the selection of a number of pilot cities for China-EU cooperation, officially launching the China-EU cooperation in smart city construction, and Ningbo became one of the 15 pilot cities. Under the guidance of the China-EU strategic cooperation framework, the pilot cities will strengthen their sharing of best practice experiences and cooperative research in such fields as smart city framework and standards, and the intelligent applications in key sectors. China and the EU will set up a special international cooperative project to promote the two parties’ cooperation in promoting the research and development, the standardized cooperation and the application of some core smart-city technologies, by combining the goals and demands of both the pilot cities in China and the cities in the EU and seeking common interests of both sides.
　　As the first city in China to implement the systematic smart city construction, Ningbo is taking the lead in the construction. It has established a good cooperation with related ministries and departments, research institutions and telecommunications operators by actively carrying out internal and international cooperation and exchange activities themed on smart city construction. The “China (Ningbo) Smart City Technology & Application Expo” featuring new technologies, new products, new achievements and new models has become the largest and most professional expo on smart city construction. All those activities bring in the global intelligence and resources and provide better services for the smart city construction in Ningbo.
