At a recently held meeting of Ningbo Wildlife Protection Association, it was announced that since its establishment in 2004, the association received and rescued 6,873 wild animals, including some animals under the protection of the country like sloth, macaque, gyrfalcon and sumatraensis qinlingensis.
　　In recent years, Ningbo has reserved some little-scale wildlife protection areas. In 2002, the city set up a little scale protection area in Fenghua for syrmaticus ellioti. So far, the city has 18 wildlife reserves, whose area totals 430,000 mu. These reserves are also ecotourism spots.
　　In addition, the city also opens hotlines for wildlife protection and a wildlife rescue center in Youngor Zoological Park.
