Yuyao Red maple (cherry blossom) is mainly in Siming Mountain Town, which is in the south end of Yuyao and situated in the middle of Siming Mountain. Nearly 20 years ago, by taking advantages of the unique high mountain climate and high quality soil, the town started the cultivation of red maple. After years of practice and development, there are 11,000 mou of flowers and trees in the town now and there are over 40 varieties including red maple, cherry blossom, yulan, ginkgo and golden larch among which there are around 8000 mou of red maple. Because of appropriate scale of plantation, there appear many red maple valleys. Take a look around when standing on the hill, red sample are here and there which makes you recall the poem of the great poet Li Bai “In Siming Mountain, red clouds can be seen as far as three thousand miles away”. In May 2001, this town was named as “hometown of China Red Maple”. The red maple in Siming Mountain is sold to over 60 cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Tsingtao, Chengdu and Kunming and exported to the foreign countries including Netherlands and Singapore. In Siming Mountain Town, red maple production exemplar base and maple botanical garden, a resource pool and breeding center of sample, will be built. In the future, an ecological tourist scenic spot will be open to the tourists with red maple tourism as main resource, in combination with beautiful natural scenes of cliff, grotto, valley, and old village and scenes full of human culture and history.
